Magazine Advert Conventions

In this, the album art is encased in a border with the title of the artist breaking the line at the top - this breaks up the image more, the flowers in the corner also do this. The font at the top matches the floral background, the fonts is at the bottom half of the poster is all the same creating repetition and continuity. The black background also flows into back of the image. The tones are similar in the colours.

I like the framing in this poster and how it is broken up, I might think of including similar aspects into my poster.

This poster has gone for more of a magazine cover look to it, clearly highlighting the artist. The balance in the design is clean and the colours in the lower text match the colours of the sky. I like the effect that this poster gives.
The production details are well presented.

I like the clarity of this poster and colours.

This is probably my favourite magazine poster out of the four, the band name/icon is prominent and the font is continued through the rest of the text along with the colour. For the background they have used the same image as the one on the album cover but zoomed in. The production content and information is displayed at the bottom of the poster.

I would want to take forward the idea of continuing the photos used for the album cover on to the poster.

This poster includes continuity in the font, it is well organised  as it is separated with line and the boldness of the font.
The photo of the album cover is seen at the bottom of the page. The photo links to the poster image by the continuity of the background and the colour.
The name of the artist is clearly displayed as well as the date of the release meaning the most important information is displayed.

Although a photo may work well for the magazine advert and digipak cover, I would like to try a drawing in the similar style to tour posters from Melody's Echo Chamber, it would fit in with the genre conventions well and it would be based of a photo taken from filming.

These are some examples

I would make this design by having a photo shoot and from this choose a photo to copy from. I will look at the lighting and shadows as this certain style takes those things into consideration. I will draw the outline of my image and ensure it is neat. I will then scan it and transfer it to a vector so I can edit it through adobe illustrator and add colour

Production Update

After looking back on the footage I had with my actress Hannah, I have decided I need to have more shots of her lip-syncing, this will be needed soon as she is cutting her hair very short soon and I need continuity in the editing. I will be filming the shots of her this weekend. At this time I will also take photos of her to possibly use for the poster and digipak design.
